Chapter one

From a wheelchair to 28 marathons.

In the middle of the NFL season, Krystalore Crews was wheelchair-bound, diagnosed with a really rare form of rheumatoid arthritis.

She went looking for every way to keep moving: mentally, physically, spiritually, and connected to her community. She studied mindfulness, nutrition, movement and active recovery. Then she came back to run 28 marathons and a 50-mile race.

What she studied to get out of that chair became the systems she teaches now: M.O.V.E.

The 50-mile race

Six months with an Olympic athlete's coach.

The 50-miler was her most successful race, her most challenging race, and the one she was most prepared for. She trained for six months with an Olympic athlete's coach by her side the whole time, and she was featured in a documentary.

She credits that coaching. It is why these are part of her system today, and part of every MOVE track:

  • Coaching
  • Daily check-ins
  • Nutrition
  • Mindfulness
  • Community
  • Connection

One of her proudest moments

The Spirit Award.

The race director picked her. For the last 4 miles of the 50-mile race, up a mountain, Krystalore carried the American flag, still smiling after 50 miles and 9 hours 8 minutes of nonstop running. It was part of her comeback season, and it was about serving something bigger than herself.

Cancer survivor

The same system, a second comeback.

Krystalore is a cancer survivor. The M.O.V.E. system she built on the way back from a wheelchair helped her bounce back quicker. It is the same system she teaches today.
