MOVE Foundations: rebuilding who you are after a work injury

The 12-week coaching core: identity after injury, goal setting, rebuilding habits and accountability.

A work injury rarely stays in one body part. It changes your routine, your paycheck, your role at home and, very often, the way you see yourself. MOVE Foundations is the coaching core of MOVE: twelve weeks that help you rebuild the person underneath the injury while your medical team looks after the injury itself.

Why identity comes first

Many people describe the weeks after an injury as losing their place. The job that gave the day its shape is on hold. The things you were known for, being strong, being reliable, being the one who fixes things, may not be available right now. That gap can quietly turn into "I'm not who I was."

Foundations starts there. Before goals and habits, we work on the story you are telling yourself. Krystalore knows that conversation from the inside. In the middle of the NFL season she was in a wheelchair, diagnosed with a really rare form of rheumatoid arthritis. She studied mindfulness, nutrition, movement and active recovery, and came back to run 28 marathons and a 50-mile race.

Foundations also carries the self-leadership work she developed at the Pentagon, where she wrote curriculum on mindful self-leadership and resilience that more than 180,000 uniformed members complete every year. The aim is the same here: a better relationship with yourself, so you can lead your own recovery. Read her full story at prescriptions.plus/about-krystalore.

What the twelve weeks cover

  • Weeks 1–3, Mindset: your recovery story, self-talk, and the identity you're choosing to grow into.
  • Weeks 4–6, Ownership: one or two tiny daily habits, tracked, celebrated and stacked.
  • Weeks 7–9, Vitality: sleep, water, food and movement at the level your doctor has cleared.
  • Weeks 10–12, Environment: home, relationships, boundaries and the next season, including work.

Goals that survive bad days

Recovery is not a straight line. Foundations uses "floor and ceiling" goals: the smallest version you will do even on your worst day (the floor), and the stretch you'll reach for when you have energy (the ceiling). Keeping the floor keeps the streak, and the streak keeps the identity.

We write goals in your own words, review them every week, and adjust them without shame when your body or your schedule changes. A paused goal is information, not failure.

Accountability that feels like support

Each week has a live group session, short on-demand lessons you can watch from the couch, and a check-in. With the Core and Complete packages you also get 1:1 coaching with the MOVE team. You'll leave every session with one thing to do, not ten.

You choose how much to share. Coaching is about your goals and habits; we never need your diagnosis, claim number or medical records.

How it fits with your care

Foundations is coaching and education. It does not diagnose or treat anything, and it never replaces your treating physician, physical therapist, psychologist or other licensed providers. If something your care team asks you to do conflicts with anything in MOVE, follow your care team. Bring your MOVE goals to your appointments; many people find it helps them ask better questions.

Coaching and education only. Talk with your treating physician before changing your activity. If you are thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) any time. In an emergency, call 911.

FAQ

MOVE Foundations: questions

+Do I need to be cleared by a doctor to join Foundations?

Foundations is mostly mindset, habits and planning, so most people can start right away. Any movement in the program is at the level your treating physician has cleared, and you should always check with them before changing your activity.

+Is MOVE Foundations therapy?

No. It is non-clinical coaching and education. If you want clinical mental-health support, Therapists.plus lists licensed therapists, and your physician can refer you.
