The M.O.V.E. framework

Four parts of a comeback.

  • Mindset

Identity after injury, self-talk, goals and the belief that a comeback is possible.

  • Ownership

Habits you can own — small daily actions, tracked and celebrated.

  • Vitality

Body, fuel and sleep — movement at your level, food and water, rest.

  • Environment

Home, relationships and boundaries — the people and places around your recovery.

The Finish Line Method™

The same approach Krystalore used to go from a wheelchair to 28 marathons and a 50-mile race, adapted for recovery from a work injury.

  1. 1

    Start Line

An honest baseline: where you are today, what matters most, and your treating team's restrictions first. Medical clearance comes before movement.

  2. 2

    Mile Markers

Small weekly goals you choose and can win, even on a hard day: a floor you always keep, a ceiling you reach for.

  3. 3

    Pace

Mindset, breath, sleep and self-talk, so you keep going without burning out and the voice in your head becomes a coach.

  4. 4

    Crew

Family, peers, coaches and your care team. Nobody crosses a finish line alone.

  5. 5

    Finish Line

Celebrate what you've rebuilt — then pick the next line, at home and at work.

Where MOVE comes from

Built at the Pentagon, proven on the trail.

MOVE isn't a new idea dressed up for injured workers. It brings together the leadership curriculum Krystalore developed at the Pentagon and the system that carried her from a wheelchair to a 50-mile race.

Built at the Pentagon

As a leadership instructor, Krystalore was asked to develop curriculum at the Pentagon for the entire military. She designed a 40-hour train-the-trainer program and wrote six computer-based trainings that more than 180,000 uniformed members complete every year. The goal: self-leadership and emotional regulation, a good relationship with self, and people more connected to their work, coworkers, teams and culture.

Proven on the trail

Her 50-mile race was her most challenging and most successful, and the one she was most prepared for. She trained for six months with an Olympic athlete's coach by her side the whole time. That is why MOVE includes:

The race director picked her for the Spirit Award: she carried the American flag for the last 4 miles up a mountain, still smiling after 50 miles in 9 hours 8 minutes of nonstop running.

Connecting the dots

After an injury, everything moves.

An injury touches your mind, your body, your home and your work all at once. MOVE has a track for each.

The MOVE program menu

Twelve tracks. Choose what you need.

Most people start with MOVE Foundations and add one or two tracks. Formats include live groups, on-demand sessions, 1:1 coaching and in-person events.

How MOVE fits your recovery plan

Alongside your care team. Never instead of it.

  • Your treating physician leads your care. MOVE is coaching and education. Your physician, physical therapist and other licensed providers direct your treatment; MOVE supports the habits and mindset around it.
  • Clearance before movement. Before any MOVE movement session, your treating physician must clear you for exercise. Share your restrictions with your coach. Adaptive sessions coordinate with your PT and never replace it.
  • Clinical needs go to clinicians. Therapy, pain management and medical nutrition therapy come from licensed providers. MOVE can point you to Therapists.plus, Somatic Experiences practitioners and registered dietitian partners.
  • Bring your team into the loop. Ask your treating physician, case manager or attorney about including MOVE in your recovery plan.

FAQ

MOVE questions

+What is MOVE?

MOVE is a recovery coaching system for people hurt at work, and their families, created with Krystalore Crews. M.O.V.E. stands for Mindset, Ownership (habits), Vitality (body, fuel, sleep) and Environment (home, relationships, boundaries). It has 12 tracks, delivered as live groups, on-demand sessions, 1:1 coaching and some in-person events.

+Does MOVE replace physical therapy or my doctor's treatment?

No. MOVE is non-clinical coaching and education. It works alongside your treating physician, physical therapist, therapists and other licensed providers, and never replaces them. If anything in MOVE conflicts with your care team's advice, follow your care team.

+Do I need my doctor's permission?

Yes, for any movement. Before you join a MOVE movement session, your treating physician must clear you for exercise. You can start the coaching and mindset work while you wait.

+Who pays for MOVE?

MOVE has program pricing, shown on this page. Coverage varies. Some people pay directly, some employers offer MOVE as a return-to-work benefit, and some people ask their case manager or attorney whether MOVE can be part of their recovery plan. Ask your treating physician, case manager or attorney about including MOVE in your recovery plan.

+Who created MOVE?

Krystalore Crews, a 22-year U.S. Air Force veteran. In a wheelchair with a really rare form of rheumatoid arthritis, she studied mindfulness, nutrition, movement and active recovery, came back to run 28 marathons and a 50-mile race, and later used the same system to bounce back quicker from cancer. As a leadership instructor she developed curriculum at the Pentagon on temperament, emotional intelligence, communication, mindful self-leadership and resilience. MOVE brings that work together. Her full story is at prescriptions.plus/about-krystalore.

+Is Krystalore Crews a doctor or therapist?

No. Krystalore is a coach, speaker and retreat leader — not a physician, physical therapist, psychologist or dietitian. Her programs are coaching and education, and they work alongside the licensed professionals who care for you.

+Can my family take part?

Yes. Home Front offers individual and family/partner sessions, Caregiver Circle supports spouses and family caregivers, and several workshops are designed for couples.

+What information do I need to share to start?

Just your name, how to reach you, your state and what you'd like help with. Please don't send your diagnosis, medical records, claim number or Social Security number. MOVE doesn't need them.

+I'm struggling right now. What should I do?

If you're thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 any time. In an emergency, call 911. For ongoing support, a licensed therapist can help; Therapists.plus lists licensed talk therapists.

MOVE is non-clinical wellness coaching and education. It does not diagnose or treat any condition and does not replace care from your physician, physical therapist or other licensed providers. Physician clearance is required before any movement session. Medical emergency? Call 911. In crisis? Call or text 988.
