Pain & Stress Reset: calming the body and mind after an injury

Somatic regulation, breathwork with Just Breathe, and sleep habits for calmer days.

Krystalore Crews sitting cross-legged on a bridge, taking a quiet moment

Pain and stress feed each other. A sore night leads to a short temper, a short temper tightens the body, and the tight body has a harder night. Pain & Stress Reset teaches practical, body-based skills many people use alongside their medical care to interrupt that loop, so you have more say over how a hard day goes.

What this is, and what it isn't

This track is education and coaching. It does not treat pain, change a diagnosis or replace pain management from your physician. Think of it as a toolkit you carry between appointments: things you can do in two minutes on the couch, at a red light, or at 3 a.m.

Three skills you'll practise

  • Breath: slow, longer exhales with Krystalore's Just Breathe library. Many people find a long exhale helps them settle.
  • Somatic awareness: noticing where you feel safe or neutral in your body, not just where it hurts, and resting your attention there.
  • Orienting and grounding: using your senses to bring yourself back to the room when stress spikes.

Sleep habits that support recovery

Sleep is where a lot of recovery happens, and pain can make it fragile. You'll build a wind-down routine you can actually keep: a consistent wake-up time, dimmer lights in the last hour, a short breath practice, and a plan for the nights you can't sleep, so you're not lying there fighting the clock.

If you have a HealthRing, you can watch your sleep and stress trends over the weeks. They're wellness estimates, not medical readings, but they can help you notice what helps.

With Somatic Experiences practitioners

Some sessions are led with practitioners from the Somatic Experiences network, who specialise in body-based approaches to stress. If you want ongoing one-to-one support, you can find a practitioner directly at somaticexperiences.com.

Where these skills come from

Krystalore studied mindfulness and active recovery to come back from a wheelchair, and later used the same M.O.V.E. system to bounce back quicker from cancer. Resilience and emotional regulation were also at the heart of the curriculum she developed at the Pentagon for the entire military.

When to talk to a professional

Tell your doctor about any new, changing or worsening pain. If stress, low mood or worry is taking over your days, a licensed therapist can help; Therapists.plus is one place to start. If you are thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) any time. In an emergency, call 911.

Formats

Live group practice, short on-demand sessions (three to fifteen minutes), and 1:1 coaching to build your own reset plan.

A two-minute reset you can try today

  • Sit or lie somewhere supported and let the surface hold your weight.
  • Breathe in through your nose for a count of four, and out slowly for a count of six. Repeat five times.
  • Look around the room and name three things you can see and two things you can hear.
  • Notice one place in your body that feels neutral or comfortable — a hand, a foot, your back against the chair — and rest your attention there for a few breaths.
  • Ask yourself: what's one kind thing I can do for my body in the next hour?

Education and coaching only, not pain treatment. Always follow your physician's pain-management plan. If you are thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) any time. In an emergency, call 911.

FAQ

Pain & Stress Reset: questions

+Will breathwork make my pain go away?

We don't make that promise. Breath and somatic skills are tools many people find helpful for coping with stress and discomfort. Your physician remains in charge of your pain care.

+Do I need a HealthRing for this track?

No. The ring can help you notice sleep and stress trends, but every skill in the track works without it.
