Prescription home delivery for chiropractic practices on ChiroTouch
ChiroTouch is a chiropractic EHR, and chiropractors generally don't prescribe medication. But many chiropractic practices have medical prescribers on staff — an MD, DO, NP or PA — who often work alongside an e-prescribing tool. The Prescriptions.plus Home Delivery Program lets those prescribers choose our licensed partner pharmacy, so medication is delivered to the patient's door. ChiroTouch is a product name of its owner, used here only to describe your system; no endorsement or affiliation is implied.
Our training team helps practices add our partner pharmacy in ChiroTouch's e-prescribing. Prescriptions.plus is not affiliated with or endorsed by ChiroTouch.
Adding our partner pharmacy alongside ChiroTouch
In an integrated chiropractic practice, charting for adjustments and therapy may live in ChiroTouch while the medical provider's prescriptions are sent through an e-prescribing tool. Where the partner pharmacy is added depends on where prescriptions are actually sent from.
The general process is the same as in any e-prescribing setup: prescriptions go to a pharmacy chosen from an electronic pharmacy directory, and the partner pharmacy is found and saved there so your prescriber can select it.
Our training team helps practices add our partner pharmacy in the e-prescribing tool your ChiroTouch practice uses and walks the practice through it. Their first job is to confirm exactly which tool your prescribers use.
- Chiropractors generally don't prescribe
- Medical prescribers on staff send the prescriptions
- The pharmacy is saved wherever prescriptions are sent from
- Our training team confirms your setup first
What our training team does
A full training department helps install it so it doesn't impact your workflow. They'll ask how your practice is structured — who the medical prescribers are, how they share patients with your chiropractors, and which system they prescribe from.
They then walk the prescribers and the staff who support them through saving and selecting the partner pharmacy. Chiropractic and front-desk staff can join too, so they understand the option and can mention to patients that they can ask the medical provider about delivery.
Ongoing support is available for questions, and when new prescribers join.
What stays the same in your workflow
Chiropractic care and charting in ChiroTouch don't change. Your medical providers keep prescribing as they do now, with one more pharmacy to choose.
The prescriber decides what to prescribe and where to send it, and the prescribing doctor decides refills. Chiropractors don't need to do anything new beyond knowing the option exists.
In a busy integrated practice, the front desk often hears first that a patient can't get to a pharmacy — perhaps their car was damaged in the accident that brought them in. Knowing delivery exists lets staff suggest the patient ask the medical provider about it, rather than leaving the problem unsolved.
Your chiropractors' care plans, visit frequency and documentation remain entirely their own.
- No change to chiropractic charting
- Same prescribing steps for medical providers
- Delivery offered when it helps
- Medication is dispensed by our licensed partner pharmacy
Before your setup call
Identify your medical prescribers and the e-prescribing tool they use. Invite one of them, plus the staff member who handles their prescriptions.
Enrollment is one form; we then send the agreements. Have practice details, each prescriber's licence and DEA numbers with copies, and a W-9 ready. These relate to your medical prescribers, not your chiropractors.
We connect to most major EMR and e-prescribing systems, so the training team can work with whichever tool your prescribers use.
Patients and refills
Your patients are often recovering from neck and back injuries after car accidents or lifting at work, and many find driving and waiting in line uncomfortable. When the medical provider sends a prescription to our partner pharmacy, medication is delivered to the patient's door.
A $5 dispensing fee applies, and a delivery fee applies. Whether a PIP policy or workers' comp claim covers the medication is a question for the patient's insurer or adjuster.
The prescribing doctor decides refills. Some medications, such as Schedule II controlled substances, may not be available by mail — your partner pharmacy will advise.
