Home prescription delivery for practices that prescribe from Veradigm (Allscripts)

Veradigm, formerly Allscripts, offers both full EHRs and standalone e-prescribing, so practices using it can look very different from one another. Some prescribe inside a complete record system; others use a stand-alone prescribing tool next to separate charting software. The Prescriptions.plus Home Delivery Program works with either approach: your prescribers choose our licensed partner pharmacy, and medication is delivered to the patient's door. Veradigm and Allscripts are product names of their owner, used here only to describe your system; no endorsement or affiliation is implied.

Our training team helps practices add our partner pharmacy in Veradigm (Allscripts)'s e-prescribing. Prescriptions.plus is not affiliated with or endorsed by Veradigm (Allscripts).

Adding our partner pharmacy in Veradigm (Allscripts)

Whichever Veradigm product you use, e-prescriptions are sent to pharmacies chosen from an electronic pharmacy directory. A home-delivery pharmacy appears in that directory like any retail pharmacy.

Generally, adding it means searching for our partner pharmacy and saving it so it's ready to select. If you use a standalone e-prescribing tool alongside other charting software, the pharmacy is saved in the prescribing tool, since that's where prescriptions are sent from.

Our training team helps practices add our partner pharmacy in Veradigm's e-prescribing and walks the practice through it. Their first question is usually which product you have, because that shapes everything else.

  • Full EHR or standalone e-prescribing — both send to the directory
  • Save the partner pharmacy where prescriptions are sent from
  • Select it for patients who want delivery
  • Our training team guides you through your product

What our training team does

A full training department helps install it so it doesn't impact your workflow. They confirm which Veradigm product and version you use, who manages settings, and who prescribes.

Then they walk the right people through saving and selecting the partner pharmacy and explaining delivery to patients. For practices using a standalone prescribing tool, they also talk through how staff move between charting and prescribing so the new option fits naturally.

Long-time users may have well-worn habits and many saved pharmacies. The team works with those habits rather than asking you to reorganise anything.

What stays the same in your workflow

Prescribers keep their current steps. The only change is one more pharmacy in the list they already choose from.

Your practice's policies, documentation and patient communication continue as they are. The prescriber decides what to prescribe and where to send it, and the prescribing doctor decides refills.

  • Same prescribing tool and steps
  • Same documentation
  • Delivery offered patient by patient
  • Medication is dispensed by our licensed partner pharmacy

Before your setup call

Note which Veradigm product you use, and whether any prescribers use a different tool. Invite whoever manages your prescribing settings.

Enrollment is one form, after which we send the agreements. Have practice details, each prescriber's licence and DEA numbers with copies, and a W-9 ready.

We connect to most major EMR and e-prescribing systems, so if your practice is planning to change systems, mention that too.

Think about which patients you'd most like to reach. For many practices it's injured workers on modified duty, post-surgical patients or auto-accident patients without a car. Sharing that with the training team helps focus the walk-through on the staff who see those patients.

Patients and refills

When a prescription is sent to our partner pharmacy, medication is delivered to the patient's door. A $5 dispensing fee applies, and a delivery fee applies. Whether a workers' comp claim or auto policy covers the medication is for the patient's adjuster or insurer to say.

The prescribing doctor decides refills, and refill requests come in through your usual channel. Some medications, such as Schedule II controlled substances, may not be available by mail — your partner pharmacy will advise.

Patients recovering from a work or auto injury often benefit most: someone in a back brace, a sling or a boot who would otherwise need to arrange a ride to collect each prescription.

Frequently asked questions

Can Veradigm or Allscripts send prescriptions to a home-delivery pharmacy?

Generally yes. Both the EHRs and standalone e-prescribing send to pharmacies in the electronic directory, and our training team helps practices add our partner pharmacy in Veradigm's e-prescribing and walks them through it.

We use a standalone e-prescribing tool. Does that work?

Yes. The partner pharmacy is saved in the tool you prescribe from, and the training team walks you through it.

Is Prescriptions.plus affiliated with Veradigm or Allscripts?

No. These are product names of their owner, mentioned only to describe your system, and no endorsement or affiliation is implied.

Will our long-standing setup need to be reorganised?

No. The partner pharmacy is added as one more option, and a full training department helps install it so it doesn't impact your workflow.

What do we need to enrol?

Practice details, prescriber licence and DEA numbers with copies, and a W-9. Fill out one form and we send the agreements.

Who decides refills?

The prescribing doctor decides refills. Delivery doesn't change your refill process.
