Adding a home-delivery pharmacy for practices on Tebra (Kareo)
Tebra, which brought together Kareo and PatientPop, is used by many independent practices — practices where the owner-physician often knows every patient by name and every staff member covers more than one job. The Prescriptions.plus Home Delivery Program lets your prescribers choose our licensed partner pharmacy in e-prescribing so medication is delivered to the patient's door. Tebra, Kareo and PatientPop are product names of their owner, used here only to describe your system; no endorsement or affiliation is implied.
Our training team helps practices add our partner pharmacy in Tebra (Kareo)'s e-prescribing. Prescriptions.plus is not affiliated with or endorsed by Tebra (Kareo).
Adding our partner pharmacy in Tebra (Kareo)
Some practices still call it Kareo; some have moved to Tebra's newer setup. Either way, e-prescribing works on the same general principle: each prescription is sent to a pharmacy chosen from an electronic pharmacy directory, and home-delivery pharmacies are listed there alongside retail ones.
Adding the partner pharmacy generally means finding it in that directory and saving it so it's easy to choose for any patient who wants delivery. After that, choosing it is no different from choosing the pharmacy down the street.
Our training team helps practices add our partner pharmacy in Tebra's e-prescribing and walks the practice through it, whichever version you're on.
What our training team does
A full training department helps install it so it doesn't impact your workflow. They'll ask which version you use, who handles pharmacy settings and which providers prescribe, then show those people how to save and select the partner pharmacy.
Independent practices tend to prefer short, practical sessions. The team keeps it focused: where the option lives in general terms, how to offer it to a patient, and what the patient should expect.
If your practice is in the middle of changing versions or adding a location, mention it. The team can plan around that so you don't set things up twice.
- Confirm which version and setup you use
- Walk staff through saving and selecting the pharmacy
- Keep sessions short and practical
- Plan around upcoming changes
What stays the same in your workflow
Prescribing stays as it is. Your providers pick the medication, write instructions and choose a pharmacy, with the partner pharmacy now among the choices.
Your billing, scheduling and patient-engagement tools don't change either. The prescriber decides what to prescribe and where to send it, and the prescribing doctor decides refills.
For injured workers and accident patients, the difference shows up after they leave your office. Instead of planning a trip to the pharmacy with a sore back or a sprained ankle, they can have medication delivered to their door.
- Same prescribing steps
- No change to billing or scheduling
- Delivery offered when it helps the patient
- Medication is dispensed by our licensed partner pharmacy
Before your setup call
Check which version of the platform you're on, and decide who will attend — usually a prescriber and the person who manages your settings.
To enrol, fill out one form; we then send the agreements. Have practice details, each prescriber's licence and DEA numbers with copies, and a W-9 ready.
Think about which of your patients you most want to reach. For many independent practices, it's the injured worker who comes in after a lifting strain or the auto-accident patient whose car is in the shop.
Patients and refills
When a prescription goes to our partner pharmacy, medication is delivered to the patient's door. A $5 dispensing fee applies, and a delivery fee applies. The patient's adjuster or insurer can tell them whether their claim or policy covers the medication.
The prescribing doctor decides refills, and requests follow the process you already use. Some medications, such as Schedule II controlled substances, may not be available by mail — your partner pharmacy will advise.
Before the patient leaves, confirm their delivery address and phone number. It's a small step that prevents most of the questions that come up later.
